New Page 1 1951 Ford Custom Deluxe Tudor Coupe – RARE George Barris Kustom Video of the car running and driving! When Ford introduced the new Custom model for 1949, the car represented the Blue Oval’s first clean-sheet design since World War II.
In fact, it was the first postwar sheet metal shown by any of the Big Three.
Everything about the 1949 Ford was new, except for the wheelbase and the powertrain.
In 1950 the model name was changed to Custom Deluxe and featured a 114-inch wheelbase and was 196.8 inches long.
This particular 1951 Custom Deluxe Coupe has a special story.
In the late 1950′s it was modified and customized by the one of the world’s most popular customizers, George Barris.
Barris made this car something truly special by frenching the headlights and tailights, adding a recessed power antenna, modifying the dash, fitting the car with a 1954 Pontiac grille, and eliminating the handles and outfitting the doors and trunk with electric solenoids.
This car is such a fine example of the work that Barris did early in his career and its rarity is truly appreciated everywhere this car goes.
The car comes with a certificate authenticating that this car is indeed a genuine Barris Kustom.
Later in it’s life the car was again upgraded, being retrofitted with the powerful and popular Chevy 350/350 engine and transmission combo.
This car is ready to be added to your collection as the perfect weekend cruiser! It features: • Chevy 350 engine, lots of custom billet • Chevy 350 automatic transmission • Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor • Barris Kustom frenched headlights • Barris Kustom frenched tailights • Barris Kustom recessed power radio antenna • Barris Kustom electric solenoid door locks • Barris Kustom 1954 Pontiac grille • Barris Kustom frenched headlights modified dash • Dual exhaust with glasspacks – sounds great! • Beautiful paint job w/ custom pinstriping • Maroon vinyl interior • Exterior chrome in EXCELLENT shape • Custom battery compartment • Stock 15″ Ford rims w/ custom caps • Custom Stewart Warner gauges • Full size spare tire in trunk • Glass in very good shape • Window regulators and door mechanics in excellent good working order • 8″ Maverick rear end • Odometer reads 13,507 miles • Coker radial tires, plenty of tread left The car runs beautifully with no issues, it should be considered a very nice, clean driver.
The paint is about 15 years old but since the car has been garaged and carefully cared for, it doesn’t show it’s age.
Outside of being an older restoration this car really doesn’t have any issues.
There is a spot on the interior of the drivers door where the paint shows wear.

I specialize in helping car owners sell their classic car online, many of whom are members of local car clubs in my area.
I run this small side business as a way to help people buy and sell cars who may not have much experience with computers or selling on eBay.
It also gives me a great excuse to be around all the classic cars I love.
