Offered for sale with a low reserve is this extremely rare 1952 Hudson Hornet Hollywood two door hardtop in excellent condition with restored mechanicals and original paint.
This car belongs to a close friend and prominent East Coast collector who is reluctantly thinning his collection and has asked me to list the car on his behalf.
He had it shipped to my garage here in the SF Bay Area and we have gone through and thoroughly sorted the car and it is ready to drive and enjoy.
It will represent an outstanding value for the high bidder.
Please bid with confidence – I have been selling collector cars on eBay for OVER TWELVE YEARS.
This beautiful Hudson is in excellent condition and ready to drive anywhere.
Amazingly enough it still wears its original paint, in the striking (and rare) color combination of Symphony Blue-Green with a Boston Ivory top.
Given that the paint is 60 years there are of course some minor flaws and touch ups but overall it looks wonderful.
The chrome looks to be all original and is in fine condition with only some very minor pitting here and there.
The interior has been redone to exactly match the original and is in excellent shape, and all of the glass is good.
The lights and gauges all work fine except the clock, and the original AM radio is in excellent working condition.
The heater was working fine but the control valve went bad and needs to be replaced – I don’t think it is hard to find.
The engine is in great shape, it is the famous 308 c.i.
flathead six with twin carbs that won all the NASCAR races in the early 50s.
This motor seems to have been recently overhauled and although we don’t have paperwork on the rebuild it runs very strong and this is a very fast car.
It has a brand new clutch and shifting is very smooth, the brakes are fine, and the overdrive works perfectly, allowing high speeds on the freeway.
This Hornet is also riding on brand new wide whitewall tires from Coker.
VALUE: The Hudson Hornet has long been highly sought after by postwar car collectors.
Although the sedans and coupes are in good supply the Hollywood hardtop was a specialty sport model and only constructed in very small numbers.
The majority of these rare models have of course long since gone to the junkyard and this is a rare opportunity to acquire a very fine example.
If we consigned to a big classic dealer or sold the car at one of the big auctions the price would undoubtedly climb extremely high, but the owner wishes to sell right away so the car is offered with a very low reserve for quick sale.
This is surely an opportunity to get a bargain on a remarkable car and a rare piece of automotive history.
If properly cared for this car is sure to increase in value in the near future, making it a blue chip investment which can be enjoyed while it appreciates.
Bid what it’s worth to you and you can own it.
If you can’t bear to wait for the end of the auction you can contact me with a “buy it now†offer, and I will give it serious consideration.
