This auction is for a 1953 Mercury Monterey 2 Door Hard Top Coupe.
This belongs to a dealer friend of mine who asked me to list it for him.
I will give you as accurate a discription as I can of how I see the car and what was told to me.
This car has the Flat Head V-8 and was told that it had been rebuilt.
It runs sweet! Has a pair of Edelbrock Finned Aluminum Heads, Edelbrock Aluminum Intake with Dual Carbs, Accessory Oil Filter, Has an extra Vaccum Canister for the Power Brakes, Changed over to the 12 Volt System, nice sounding dual exhaust, 3 Speed Manual Transmission with Over Drive.
( not working at present) According to the owner the car drives fine.
It has a Visor, Skirts and an older set of Wide White Wall Tires.
The body and undercarrige is in exceptional shape.
Super solid and rust free.
The car is very straight down both sides.
Trunk and floor pans are rock solid also.
Some of the chrome has been taken off of the trunk and a Power Release Button for the trunk lid is mounted in the glove compartment.
The parts that were taken off are in a box in the trunk.
All glass is good with the exception of the passenger side vent window that has a crack.
Windows roll up and down nicely.
All Stainless is in very nice shape.
I do have a decent set of chrome rocker moldings that will be included in the sale.
I just didnt have the clips to put them on.
The bumpers are good and straight but will need rechroming.
Some of the pot metal has some pitting and will need to be redone or replaced.
The interior of the car is just good original.
It does show some signs of wear but is presentable for the age of the car.
All electricals work, lights, horn, wipers, turn signals, interior courtesy, etc.
The original radio is in place but there is an aftermarket AM/FM Cassette mounted under the dash that works great.
The only thing I could not get working are the front fog lights.
Over all this is a nice old Merc and with a little TLC it could really be made nicer.We have all proper dealer paper work for a smooth transaction.
