That couple gave him a list of repairs they did to the car, and the current owner gave us another list he compiled….so we have a very complete history of service and repairs.
See copies in the additional photos.

DETAILS OF CAR: [ Paint ] – Looking at the car outside in natural sunlight, the paint looks aged but seems to have survived well.
We brought the car inside (in artificial lighting) to go over this Corvette in depth and explain the condition of the paint, etc.
Please note – we are very critical during this process.
Starting with the paint on the hood, it is fairly shiny, particularly down the center section.
Light bubbles have developed in the finish on the left and right sides.
They are not as obvious outside in natural light.
We do not really see any scratches per se, but do see some nicks along the left and right front area (where the nose meets the hood).
There are a few nicks that have been touched up on the nose and some touched up damage on the left front corner.
(See pics) The paint on the tops of the fenders and across the nose is much duller, with some cracking and aging.
It may be brought back to some degree, and improved with compound or polish.
There is an 8-12†area on top of the left fender, that looks touched up (little circle effect).
The rear deck only has a couple nicks at most and no apparent scratches.
It has a rough, older finish, whereas the area that conceals the convertible top has a little brighter sheen and shine.
The area that surrounds the gas cap filler has gotten fairly dull but still shows well.
On the left side, there is some cracking and light nicks on the left front fender.
It can only be seen under bright lights.
There are also nicks by the lock and key area.
The right side has a couple of nicks on the door and on the right rear quarter.
There is also a little bit of light bubbling on the finish above the right front tire (see photos).
For whatever reason, the right side seems to be a little bit shinier than the left side.
Overall, the paint is somewhat aged and does not match perfectly.
We do not know what degree it could be brought back, over it has held up well over the years.
[ Body ] – In the paint section, we mentioned a little damage and some touch ups on the nose and left front corner (see pictures).
There is also some checking/cracking between hood and head lamps (we cannot see how deep it is).
It looks like it may be more of a “paint†issue than a “body†issue, but we can’t be sure.
If you look at the gaps on the hood, the left and right sides seem fairly similar.
We noticed the right front corner of the hood dips down a little bit below the fender, and is up a little higher then the fender on the right rear.
It could possibly be adjusted out.
We have pictures up in the wheel wells, and we do see a difference in the bonding strip on the right vs.
the left.
The right looks like it is constructed differently (see photos).
You can also see pictures of the gaps on both doors and the cover for convertible top.
Other than that, the body appears as straight and correct as Corvettes typically were when new.
[ Chrome/Bright Work ] – The trim around the side windows and windshield is all very straight, and seems undamaged.
There are some fine scratches that could be polished out, but other than that, it is in extremely nice condition.
The only exception is the chrome around the right wing vent – it does have some light pitting (the left side has almost none).
We did not see any damage on the front and rear bumpers but the front shows light scuffing/wear and very light pitting.
It can only be seen up close, just a few feet away.
The rear bumper also seems fairly free of damage, but it does have pitting and black specks.
The rest of the chrome (emblems, door handles, Corvette script on the back, antenna, and side mirrors) is in nice condition overall, but does show some light wear and pitting up close.
The stainless on the lower rockers looks free of significant damage.
If you look closely at the photos, you can see some age and road wear.
The caps are in very nice condition with just a little bit of wear showing, and a little waviness around the outside rim (most likely from removing and reinstalling them over the years).
[ Glass ] – The windshield, vents, and side windows all have the Safety Plate and LOF insignia on them.
If you look closely at the windshield (with light shining in), you can see some light scratching, but overall it has held up well.
We do not see any cracks or bulls eyes, or signs of wiper wear, delamination, or breakdown.
Not do we any signs of wiper wear.
[ Convertible / Vinyl Top ] – We do not know the age of the vinyl top but you can see the color seems to have held up well and it shows little wear.
It could just use a little dressing on it.
The stitching is in excellent condition all the way around, and we do not see any tears or cuts.
It feels soft and supple.
The rear plastic window is nice and clear and looks fresh.
It may have a couple of light scuffs on it, but it has not turned color as they tend to do over a period of time.
The paint on the frame work is in really nice condition.
It is a nice shiny black and looks like it was repainted when the top was replaced.
It has a lot of years left.
[ Hard Top ] – The paint on the hard top obviously shows less wear as it was usually stored.
It has a nice shiny finish and is in really nice condition.
You can see in the photos that there is some rubber that needs work, but the extra pieces that are in included in sale will take care of some of it, according to the owner.
The rear window plastic does not show any significant aging or yellowing.
There are a few light scratches but it is in very good condition.
The pictures also show the condition of the interior of the top.
The weather stripping looks like it needs to be replaced, but overall, the hard top is in really nice condition.
[ Interior ] – The interior on this Corvette is just a great example of a well preserved car! Once interiors start showing a lot of wear, it is an endless cycle of details and difficulty to try to bring them back because of all the components and every little thing you have to restore or replace.
This car looks extremely original and has held up really well.
The color looks great, especially the black on the dash, door panels, and seats.
You can tell it has not had a lot of exposure.
The stitching in the seats is all tight.
The dash and controls show very little wear on the gauges and knobs.
The visors are very solid (not broken down) and have kept their form well.
The stitching and material is also in great shape.
The glovebox and all of the interior components show very little wear overall.
The stainless around the shifter looks really nice.
The carpet has also held up well, and has faded very little.
[ Tires and Wheels ] – The tires are Goodyear Integrity, size 215 – 70 – R15.
The fronts have about 10/32 tread left; the rears about 9/32.
They all look extremely fresh, with no apparent cracking.
We do not see any curb damage on the wheels or hubcaps.
The rims are nicely painted black, with wheel weights and caps installed.
It is very neatly done.
Most people agree that steel belted radials like these make a huge difference in the handling of a vehicle.
We think they improve the driving and handling on these cars.
Note – the owner tells us there is an older, original tire and wheel in the spare tire compartment.
We did not remove it.
[ Engine and Transmission ] – A lot of effort has been made to keep this Corvette as original as possible.
Under the hood, it has a Delco battery and correct, original hose clamps.
It has a stainless tank, and the spark plug wire coverings are all in place.
All in all, the engine area looks extremely well preserved and unaltered.
We do not see anything that looks like it has been added, modified or deleted.
This speaks very well of the originality of this vehicle.
[ Chassis ] – There is slight surface rust here and there on the frame, but we did not see any apparent rust perforation.
The floors look undamaged, and the bottom side looks natural (covered with remnants of oil, road film, etc., which has helped preserve it).
It is nice to see it that way and not all covered up.
On the upper areas of the chassis, you can see some surface rust.
There is a light amount of seepage on the front main seals and transmission, but no accumulation or large droppings.
The same is true of the rear end – just light fluid – but all seems to be in good shape.
[ Mechanical ] – The owner tells us the car steers great, especially with the new parts and alignment.
The brakes work as designed, as do the engine and transmission.
Chad tested the following items and they were working at the time of the listing: · Both side windows and vents · Power antenna (up and down) · Radio – AM/FM, volume, tuning adjuster, and tone control (volume works but is a little scratchy – it might need a little cleaner) · Horn · Low and high beams · Left and right, front and rear turn signals · License plate light · Back up lights · Key (locking mechanism on both doors) · Gauges · Wipers (on both speeds) · Heater controls and vents · All fan speeds · Parking brakes · Power headlights open and close The washers seem to have all of their parts, but it is not working.
Also, the clock and brake lights are not working (the owner will have it looked at).
Equipment: · 4 wheel disc brakes · Steel belted radial tires · Hard top · Soft top · Power brakes (added 1982) · Power steering · AM/FM radio · Back up lights · Stainless steel lined brakes · Special brake fluid 1 set of keys and an owner’s manual are included in the sale.
