1964 Ford Falcon Drag Car

[nggallery id=5]

1964 ford falcon futura 2 door hardtop vintage race car drag car afx bfx nhra

Fix it up and have an awesome time for very little investment.

Seller States
this is for a 1964 ford falcon 2 door hardtop vintage race car. there is no motor or transmission, and no title–bill of sale only. this is a car i bought at a swap meet, and had been stored on a trailer since 1989. i dont know when the last time it ran was, late 70′s, early 80′s? i posted some pics on a web site, and wanted to see if there was any known history on the car. the car was built in southern california in the early to mid 70′s. the paint and lettering on the car are still the original thet was put on the car when it was raced. i found the guy who originally painted the car, still in southern california. he remembers the car well, and commented on how well it was built for the times. the car was built for the owners son of f&m muffler service in poway california, and from what the painter says it was a well talked about car there. still has the sponsor’s lettering on the car, as well as the drivers name. the painter picked out the name of the car. the painter still paints cars in southern california, and still goes by potter the painter. he was a real nice guy to talk to. he thinks he remembers the car was painted around 1975. he also said it was mainly raced at orange county raceway. would be some neat history to find or photos. he remembers the big hemi dart hood scoop on the car and asked if it was still there. yep, just like a time capsule. he also thought the car to race in the b/fx class, but not sure.
the hood pins on the car, as does the rear decklid. the gauges are pretty old, and the tach sure looks cool with the old sweep face. nice roll cage still in the car, and tubed rear end 9″. not sure of the gears. car also comes with drive shaft, and headers. i also have a radiator that can go with the car from either one of my old falcons or comets. the guy i bought it from said it also needs a master cylinder, as this one leaks. doors shut good on the car, and it sits just right with the vintage look to it. the floor where shifter goes has been cut to take either different transmission, or shifters, so it looks like any combo will work. old vintage and historic race cars are getting so hard to find, and this one looks like it was last raced, and then stored and forgotten. i was going to put either a 289 or a 302 and a top loader in it, just for shows, but i am working on and finishing a plymouth duster for my daughter that is taking more money than i thought. i will also be selling a 1964 mercury comet 2 door hardtop soon, running and driving car. teh door tag, matches the fender number on this car.

this is really a neat vintage race car, that has been left alone, and probably could be brought back for vintage drag racing. all the car magazines are doing articles on stuff like this, lost and found, and this is probably going to go up in value pretty fast. i will include a buy it now, but once reserve is met, it will be auction only, and could be pulled if sold locally. THE RESERVE ON THIS OLD HISTORIC RACE CAR WILL BE UNDER $2500.00 SO SOMEONE WILL WIN THIS CAR!!!

1956 Alfa Giulietta

[nggallery id=4]

If I did not already have 2 of these I would snap it up even the buy it now price is a good price for this car.

Seller writes:

1956 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider
s/n AR1495*00627*, Engine no. AR00536*14857*
Graphite Grey with Black Interior

The Giulietta, and later the Giulia are the cars that took Alfa Romeo from being a relatively small production company to being an economically viable and successful firm. Prior to that, they had produced large and expensive cars, and never in very large numbers. With the Giulietta/Giulia, however, Alfa Romeo produced significant numbers of these charming and capable cars. Its success was due in part to its unique placement in the market. It was neither a large hugely expensive car, nor was it very small utility car (such as the Fiat 500). Instead, they were affordable enough so that many could buy them, yet permitted a more glamorous and useful approach to motoring that really struck a chord with buyers on both sides of the Atlantic. The Giulia Veloce enjoys the honor of being the highest performing and most developed open variant of the line, thanks to its 1600cc version of the venerable twin cam engine, twin Weber carburetors, higher compression ratio, and hotter cam profiles. Performance was much improved over the standard car, and as is often the case with Italian cars, the latest models are the most technically developed.

This particular blends the pleasing aesthetics of the earlier “750 Series” chassis with its shorter wheel base, hood spear, and smaller rear tail lights, with the slightly larger and more powerful 1600cc Giulia engine, and 5-speed transmission. While originally delivered as a single carburetor “Normale” model, this example has been upgraded with Veloce twin Weber carburetors, and from the fantastic, free revving engine note, Veloce specification cams and high compression pistons as well.

Best described as a driver quality example, with fresh paint to similar standards, this car will appear to the Alfa enthusiast with a knack for light restoration. The car runs and drives, with very good power, little or no smoke, excellent brakes, good clutch, and a function transmission with light bearing noise. The suspension and steering box are both good. The body and chassis are solid, with no major rust or rust repairs evident. Cosmetically, the car has a uniform driver quality appearance. The chrome, paint, interior, engine bay, and trunk are all satisfactory. The car is generally original in its appearance, including the steering wheel, wheels and hub caps, seat upholstery, gauges and switch gear.

As is so often the case with Italian cars of this era, improvements are possible in several areas. The doors could be adjusted to shut better, as could the convertible top. The motor mounts may be somewhat tired, as the carburetors touch the inner fender well at idle. The fuel gauges does not appear to read accurately, which is common to Alfa Spiders. There may be other minor mechanical defects that we are not aware of, and accordingly, we welcome pre-purchase inspections. We have taken this information into account when pricing the car. The car is sold “as-is”, in its current trim.

While we do not have considerable background on the previous history or restoration work, this example’s structurally solid nature, early build date, attractive color combination, and outstanding specification will make it an appealing purchase for the Alfa enthusiast looking for an inexpensive, event eligible car, with an option to make some value added improvements during his ownership.

1967 Trident Clipper

[nggallery id=2]

I dont think I have ever seen one of these though I might have seen it ont he lawn at Pebble. 1967 Trident Clipper, a rare and unusual car with a cool history.

Seller States:
Powered by a 289 cid high performance Ford V8, the Trident Clipper was the result of a convoluted and colorful series of events that would eventually lead to the construction of a handful of these interesting cars. The Trident was originally to built on a TVR Grantura Mark III chassis, bodied by Fissore, and was intended to be a more coherently styled car to “clean up” their model line, but after they encountered serious financial troubles and strikes, the project eventually was taken on by a TVR dealer, who chose to have the body reengineered to work with an Austin-Healey 3000 chassis. It was widened and the suspension modified to take the V8, and the fiberglass body. In an interesting side-note, during the construction of the prototype, Fissore employed Italian hardware, electrics, and wiring harness, instead of the English components specified by the contract and supplied to Fissore with the drawings. Lawyers were retained and the eventual result was the return of production to the United Kingdom after much name-calling. The car itself provided remarkable performance, with a claimed 0-60 time of about five seconds, a top speed of 150mph, and 14.3 seconds for the quarter mile. Very few of the cars were built with the handsome fiberglass body, and only the first six or so were equipped with the clamshell bonnet as this car is. In total, 29 Clippers were built with this V8 powerplant, and another 100 or so more with a 3 litre Ford V6. This particular car was sold new by International Motors in Austin, Texas and is believed to have covered less than 7400 miles from new. By the early 1990’s, the car was in need of some work, so it was comprehensively and professionally restored, and was completed in 1993. It has seen little use since and thus remains in excellent condition. As such tremendously unique and interesting cars, Tridents have somewhat of a cult following in the United Kingdom, in recognition of their remarkable contemporary performance, and unique historical significance. Some of this enthusiasm has clearly crossed both the Atlantic and the continental United States however, as this car was invited to be exhibited at Pebble Beach, where it was subsequently shown in 1996. Also of note is that this car was featured in Automobile Quarterly in 1999. The quality of the restoration is very high, with the owner at the time of the restoration noting that it exceeded the original build quality by huge margins. Consequently, the car is in excellent cosmetic condition with high quality paint with very minimal wear and excellent gaps, even around the large but surprisingly light from bodywork clip. The chrome is in very good to excellent condition throughout, including on the wheels, which are extremely nice. The glass and lenses are excellent, and the headlamps are a pair of period Lucas items. The interior has an extremely evocative period feel with its twin “pods” and cluster of informative gauges in front of the driver. There is a pair of small +2 seats in the back, which fold down to enlarge the luggage capacity. The downward sloping beltline means that the bottom edge of the rear window is about even with the driver’s elbow, which provides visibility that is so good as to be startling the first time the driver sits in the car. The remainder of the interior is typical English fare from the 60’s, with a smattering of wood accents and ancillary switches, as well as leather upholstery. The condition is excellent throughout, indicating the car’s low mileage and careful preservation since the restoration. The engine compartment was restored to high standards as well, and the car impresses with its placement of the engine, which is located entirely aft of the front axle. The car operates as it should, with the tight coherent feel of a very low mileage car. The exhausts provide a wonderful and familiar soundtrack, while the Borg-Warner top loader provides nice short shift throws. This is an extraordinarily rare opportunity to acquire one of these remarkable cars. They present an intriguing “might have been” in motoring history, and the handsome coachbuilt styling, proven chassis and powertrain, and performance make this car a wonderful blend of usability and utmost rarity.
