Oh man Oh man, I love it, very very tempting.
1951 Siata Daina GS Spider, For sale is the only surviving SIATA Grand Sport Spider in aluminium. Many steel bodied cars were produced but only 3 were built in aluminium. This car is much bigger than the well known SIATA 300 BCs. This car is highly eligible for any historic motoring event e.g. Mille Miglia or Monaco Historic Grand Prix. This car has participated in the Mille Miglia in 2008 and 2009 and is highly eligible for 2012. Entries for 2012 are open. This particular car has some distinctive figures such as fender lip flares, that allow the use of larger borrani wheels. The engine is 1500cc, which also was an option. Most of the Siatas had the smaller 1400cc engine. The combination of the lightweight and the bigger engine made this Siata a very fast car for its days.
Grand Sport Spiders were preferred race cars in the US at the beginning of the 1950s, they achieved many first places e.g. Sebring and others.
This Siata Grand Sport Spider might have been ordered by an American race driver. It is supposed, that delivery of the car was delayed, so the original order was cancelled and the car sold otherwise.
The first proven race history can be found in the 1980s. The Siata Grand Sport Spider in its current condition now is a very constant and fast historic racing car with the Italian style of the early 1950s. Details of the technical improvements on request. History file on request. Part exchange accepted.
