New manufactured distributor with late style points and condenser. New fuel shut-off and lines. Body is fair. Suspension and frame appear to be recent partial restoration. Windshield frame is poor condition. Windshield posts are the shorter Deluxe posts. Top bows are also for the deluxe model. New manufactured front seat springs (bottom and back) not upholstered. Seller states:
Offered here is one of the icons of the Woody era, the 1947 Chrysler Town and Country featured exquisite hand crafted wood. Powered by a 135-horsepower 323-cubic-inch straight eight engine, and a fluid drive transmission, the 1947 model carried a hefty $2743 price tag that was equivalent to a Cadillac. Unfortunately the survival rate of these cars, being constructed of a full wooden body, is low. Untouched examples are becoming few and far between now-a-days, with many of the cars on the market being older cosmetic restorations. Here is a chance to have one restored to the proper standard they deserve.
This car was discovered as part of eclectic collection of almost one hundred cars in the dry west. It was last driven in 1971 and then parked. Originally delivered in Newport Blue, this is an all matching numbers car which has never been apart. It is also fitted with the optional dual heaters and dual spot lights. The car is very complete and has some additional spare parts included. There is also another pair of front fenders to replace the dented one. The underside has scaly surface rust from sitting but the floors and trunk are excellent and the car remains very rust free. The wood is dry but serviceable, with the only exception being part of the trunk and quarter that will have to be replaced (more detailed photos here) . The interior is all there and original, and all the plastic remains in excellent shape. The Chrome, SS, and pot metal trim are in excellent condition after being preserved from it’s dry climate slumber.
A great project to restore and enjoy. Restoration services are available here in our shop where we are currently restoring two other T & C’s, so contact us with questions or for a quote. Meanwhile take a look at another Town & Country we are currently restoring here.
