Awesome British Race car with a 8 Cylindar Su carburated engine. I dig it a lot.
Seller states:beautiful 1962 Daimler SP250. A wonderful sports coupe with many upgrades to support its certification by VSCCA and VRG. We have all the original parts including the original number matching engine, windshield, bumpers and the sought after optional removable hardtop. You could have a ferocious street machine with a racing history or you could bring it back to the track.
I am not the man who built or raced this car so we can only have so much of a conversation about that. The Daimler was a regular at Lime Rock Raceway. The Daimler 2.5 liter V-8 hemi that was built to race was prepared by Tivvy himself of Tivvy Autocraft. Tivvy is one of the founders of The Vintage Racing Group and he builds fast cars. If you want to read about Tivvy look at britishracecar.com, put a slash after it with Tivvy Shenton-Jaguar-XK140.
At any rate this is one fast car. I have seen it give the Jags and big Healeys a serious run for their money.
The original steering rack was replaced with one from a Triumph TR and the original 48 spoke wheels were replaced with 64 spoke wheels. I have the originals. The engine was built by Tivvy at the cost of $11,000.00 and the car has had two races since then. It has not been raced the last two seasons and needs to be prepped to go back out there.
It runs great.
It is running on Jaguar e type SU carbs and the intake manifold was ported in and out. The Daimler uses a Jaguar 4 speed Moss box. Tivvy built the one-off bell housing needed. The rear axle is Sunbeam Tiger MKIII. The brake calipers have stainless pistons and use braided stainless lines. The car sits on Dunlop racing tires. There is a fuel cell in the trunk.
The roll bar is a custom bolt on type to ease a transition back to the street. I have the original windshield and the side windows with all of their hardware. I have the heater and other such add ons that were not needed or wanted while racing. I have a tonneau that fits the roll bar and the original tonneau. I have the original soft top.
